A trip to the land of a million dreams

Last Thursday, Andy came home from work and said "let's go to California," I paused for a moment, and then seriously responded "okay, let's go," but I didn't think we would really go! After discussing it over dinner, we realized that this was a perfect weekend to go because Andy had Friday and Monday off from work. And then we thought about how we're not going to be able to be so carefree in the future a.k.a when we have kids and a real job, so why not?!! Let's go to California! We also called Jim to get some trip planning advice, which made us more excited about actually taking the trip. Thanks! Our trip went as follows:

Here we are on our way! Luckily we left early enough that we didn't hit bad traffic.
We stopped at the St. George Temple and did a session before heading to "Sin City."
We then went to Vegas for a night because I'd never been there, and stayed in a hotel right smack dab in the middle of the strip. What a "dirty, dirty, dirty city." You couldn't look at billboards or on the ground for fear you'd see some dirty picture! This is at the Pink Flamingo.
We did the Vegas buffet dinner thing at the Monte Carlo hotel. It was great! I loved sampling a lot of different food. Andy then made the observation that "I'm a tryer, not a buyer." hahah I kept getting a bunch of food and only tasting it while Andy was getting food and eating it all up. In my defense, I had to make sure I had room for plenty of dessert!

More Disneyland!

This is my absolute favorite ride. It's the buzz-lightyear ride. You shoot targets with a laser gun. I lost the first two games to Andy, but the last game I almost doubled his score. I became a space cadet.

I finally saw the famous Disney Electrical Parade.
The prince and princess at the castle.

I did not want to leave, but I guess all good things have to come to an end. Waaaa!

This is not my favorite picture, but it does depict how excited I was to be at Disneyland! I could not stop smiling.
If you can't tell, Andy is soaking wet! This is right after we rode the Grizzly River Run (a rafting ride). He was the only one to get soaked. Tip: don't sit next to the opening of the raft.
This is one of my favorite rides, but not Andy's. You have to have the stomach for it I guess.
This is Boo's door from Monster's Inc.
"Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum." Doesn't it look like we should be pirates? We found the treasure on Tom Sawyer's Island.

Trip pictures: Las Vegas to CA

The Bellagio fountain shows were so fun.
Andy and Michael Jordan: bff
This is inside the Venetian. Pretty cool. Who needs to actually travel out of the country to see Venice? Just go to Vegas... close enough. j/k! haha

More Trip Pictures

We went to the beach for a few hours, but it wasn't very beachy weather. It was cloudy and chilly, but we still had fun playing a bit in the water and the sand.

Reasons for loving mom

10 Reasons why we love mom:

1. She's compassionate
2. She's beautiful
3. She has faith in us that we will succeed
4. She always told us that we can do anything we put our mind to
5. She sacrificed her time to help with homework, projects, and helped me learn to spell
6. She kept us in clean clothes--thanks for all the tons of laundry you did.
7. She made the most magnificent cakes--as you can see below, the famous clown cake, I had for at least three of my birthdays! I loved that I got lollipops with the cake.
8. She was patient--Can you believe she had to listen to 5 of us learn to play the piano, flute, french horn, saxophone, and drums?
9. She is intelligent
10. She never gives up!

We love you and thank you for all of your love.

The one we call mom

Happy Mother's Day. Thanks to all you do and did, this is our great family!

Notice in the next few pictures, the many hair styles of mom!
What a pretty lady!
Maybe one of us will have a red-head for you.

Like mother, like daughter - look at how our hair-styles are so similar.
Here we are scared that we are going to fall over into Niagra Falls. Haha

More Vacationing with the Bontorno's

We took a three day vacation to southern Utah. Our first stop: the Manti temple. Second stop: Capitol Reef. Third stop: Moab - the Arches.

Vacation with the Bontorno's

Here we are at the "This is the Place" Monument in Salt Lake. This is where Brigham Young declared the pioneers' journey had ended and would settle down.

Dinner with the Fam

We had such a great time celebrating Andy and Daniel's graduation. Here we are being goofy and Red Lobster.

Bonfire Celebration

After stuffing our faces full at Red Lobster, we went up the canyon to Vivian park and had a bonfire. We roasted marshmallows and starbursts - believe me, next time you're in the mood for roasting stuff over the fire, try starbursts. Dad wins the marshmallow eating contest, he amazed us with his ability to roast and eat the most marshmallows. I guess it's still true, Dad, the garbage can man! hehehe
